On May 22, 2020, the Kenya Electricity Generating Company, PLC, made a significant donation to Nakuru County government, worth Ksh 3.3 million, to support vulnerable communities affected by natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The donation, which was received by Nakuru County Governor, Deputy Governor, Dr. Erick Korir, will be distributed to communities living within the Olkaria area in Naivasha.
According to a statement from KenGen, the company has made deliberate efforts to improve the lives of communities, especially those living near their installations. The company has made donations totaling Ksh 30 million towards disaster response and COVID-19 related donations.
Ms Rebecca Miano, Managing Director of KenGen, said, "We have come together as management and employees to positively impact lives of every individuals and families who are facing challenges brought about by natural disasters such as flooding and the corona virus disease pandemic."
The donation is part of KenGen's efforts to improve the lives of communities, especially those living near their installations. The company has made significant contributions to various communities across the country, including Tana Delta, Turkwel, Machakos, Garissa, West Pokot, Turkana, Kitui, Homabay, Kisumu, Nakuru, Lamu, and Migori.
KenGen's efforts to support vulnerable communities have been recognized on social media, with the company's Managing Director, Ms Rebecca Miano, saying, "We believe in making a difference in areas in which we operate, with aim of improving living standards & empowering communities."
KenGen's contributions have gone a long way in supporting communities and families affected by natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic.
