On May 23, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a stimulus package aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kenya.

As part of the stimulus program, the government allocated Ksh. 10 billion to expedite the payment of outstanding Value Added Tax (VAT) refunds and other pending claims.

According to the President, the liquidity of these enterprises has been adversely affected, necessitating the allocation of funds to support them.
