On May 22, 2020, Kenya's Health acting Director-General Patrick Amoth made history by being elected as the new vice-president of the World Health Organisation Executive Board.

The WHO Executive Board, comprising 34 members, advises the World Health Assembly and enforces its policies and decisions.

The Kenyan Ministry of Health congratulated Amoth on his hard-won achievement, acknowledging his dedication and hard work.
