Published on May 22, 2020, Diamond Platnumz's mother, Mama Dangote, has been accused of interfering in the singer's relationships. Tanasha Donna, Diamond's ex-partner, claimed that Mama Dangote was a major reason for her breakup with the singer.
However, Uncle Shamte, Diamond's stepfather and husband to Mama Dangote, has denied the allegations. In an interview with Wasafi media, Uncle Shamte stated that he and his wife only advise their children and guide them, but do not interfere in their love lives.
“My wife is good friends with her children, but she does not get into Diamond’s love life. We only advise and direct when we see the kids are not doing the right thing. At the end of the day, these kids are famous and people will talk,” Uncle Shamte said.
Tanasha Donna had previously explained in an interview with True Love that Diamond's mother was one of the reasons she left the singer. She stated that all mothers should be respected, but there comes a point where they can be controlling, and that is where boundaries need to be set.
“First, all mothers should be respected. At the end of the day, it gets to a point they get a little controlling and that is where you have to set your own boundaries,” Tanasha Donna said.
She also added that the partner should be able to defend you from their family and set boundaries in a respectful way, especially in the beginning of the relationship.
