On May 22, 2020, Kenya's Coronavirus cases reached 1,161, with 52 new cases recorded.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new cases were identified from a sample size of 2,567 tested in the last 24 hours.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that five people have been discharged from various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 380.
Among the new cases, Nairobi recorded 23, while Mombasa and Busia had seven each.
CS Kagwe also announced that seven health workers have been trained in the counties, bringing the total number of trained health workers to over 11,000.
He added that the Ministry will provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for use by workers, and that Kenya will no longer import the equipment.
CS Kagwe emphasized the importance of adhering to government measures to keep the numbers low, and warned that the peak of infections in the country is expected to be around August and September.
