Kenya recorded 52 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, May 22, 2020, bringing the national tally to 1,161.
According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, 2,567 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Of the new cases, Nairobi accounted for 23, while Mombasa and Busia counties each recorded seven cases.
Kenya had tested a total of 55,074 samples from different parts of the country by May 22, 2020, since confirming its first case of the virus on March 13.
Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe also announced that the number of recoveries had risen to 380 with the discharge of five more patients.
However, the number of fatalities remained the same at 50.
At a briefing in Machakos, outside the capital, Mr Kagwe announced that Kenya will no longer import Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) due to local manufacturers now producing quality gears for health workers.
