On a recent episode of The Morning Kiss with Kamene, Andrew Kibe shared a surprising revelation about his childhood name.
Before he was known as Andrew Kibe, he was Andrew Kibwika, a name he inherited from his grandfather who brought it from Uganda.
However, Kibe's father gave him the name, which he later changed to Andrew Kibe when he was in class 7, just before registering for his KCPE exams.
He revealed that the name change was motivated by the bullying he suffered at school, where he was often called 'kibuyu in the car.'
As Kibe explained, 'So Andrew Kibwika was a dead man, I became Kibe and from then on I was the cool guy. People made so much fun of me I couldn’t take it no more. I got a chance to redeem myself to a new man.'
Interestingly, Kibe's revelation comes at a time when Sauti Sol has launched their song Insecure, which encourages people to fight their insecurities.
