Published on May 22, 2020, the Communications Authority (CA) has re-advertised the post of the Director General, a position that has been vacant for over 10 months.

The authority is seeking a competent individual with at least 15 years of leadership and managerial experience, 10 of which must be at a senior managerial level.

"He/she must possess a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline and be affiliated to a professional body. The ideal candidate should also demonstrate in-depth knowledge and experience preferably in a regulatory environment," the notice read.

Francis Wangusi's term ended in August last year, and he was replaced by Mercy Wanjau in an acting capacity. Wanjau was previously the Director of Legal services at the Authority and also served as the Board Secretary.

Wangusi had protested Wanjau's appointment, claiming she was a junior officer and that he had proposed the oldest member to take over after him.

Wangusi's term as Director General began in 2012, and he was first appointed in an acting capacity before being confirmed. He served another term that was renewed by the board in 2015.
