Sauti Sol's Midnight Train Album: A Journey of Self-Discovery ¶
The Kenyan band Sauti Sol is set to release their fifth studio album, Midnight Train, on June 5, 2020.
The album, recorded in Los Angeles, California, Johannesburg, South Africa, and Nairobi, features songs that showcase the band's songwriting and production skills with electric energy and new rhythms.
One of the songs, Insecure, aptly named, is about the insecurities people have in their lives. Lead vocalist Bien Aime Baraza shared his insecurities, saying, 'In my relationship, I am insecure maybe I am not doing enough to bring home bread to my wife. Maybe I am not doing enough for her to be happy in the relationship. Sometimes I am very insecure of what I bring to the table as a man.'
Other band members, Savara and Polycarp, also opened up about their insecurities. Savara confessed to being insecure in his love life, while Polycarp shared his fear of being misunderstood by his peers, public, and friends.
The album's theme is centred around enjoying the journey of life but also embracing the hustles and the trials that come with it. Special features on the album include American singer and songwriter India Arie on the sensual track My Everything, and Burna Boy guest-appearing on Time Flies.
Midnight Train is a testament to the band's growth and self-discovery, and fans can expect an exciting journey of music and emotions from the album.
