Published on May 22, 2020, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has warned that Covid-19 patients are now exhibiting new symptoms, different from the typical flu-like symptoms associated with the virus.
According to Kagwe, patients are experiencing gastric intestinal distress syndrome, which leads to loss of appetite, as well as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and chickenpox-like rashes.
These symptoms have been reported in several countries, including the US, UK, Italy, and Spain, but have not yet been seen in Kenya.
However, Kagwe warned that Kenyans should remain cautious, as the new symptoms have been linked to Covid-19 exposure, with patients testing positive for antibodies.
While the typical symptoms of Covid-19 include a high fever, dry cough, and shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, the new symptoms are a cause for concern and require attention from healthcare professionals.
