Friday, May 22, 2020, marked the 21st day of containment and curfews in the country, as announced by the President. For one man, however, the novelty of working from home and homeschooling was wearing off.
He was struggling to keep up with the demands of his job, particularly with the constant requests from the global head office for information on tax increases and breaks in the region. Despite sharing what was in the public domain, he was met with skepticism and asked to provide 'insights from his technocrats.'
Feeling frustrated, he decided to defer to his boss for guidance. However, his boss seemed uninterested and suggested sending 'random numbers' to the head office to appease them. The man knew better than to provide false information and instead suggested discussing the numbers line by line to ensure accuracy.
Just as he was about to breathe a sigh of relief after receiving an email from the head office, his phone started ringing non-stop. It was his mother's phone, and he was not looking forward to the conversation. But what he heard next left him shocked and devastated - his mother was in hospital after being beaten up by his brother.
