On May 21, 2020, Kenya reported its largest number of COVID-19 cases, with 80 new infections, mostly from Mombasa and Nairobi.

As the country struggled to contain the spread of the virus, former Starehe Member of Parliament Bishop Margaret Wanjiru was diagnosed with Coronavirus.

According to reports, Bishop Wanjiru was on life support, and it was revealed that she had hosted a total of 18 people at her place, defying government directives limiting gatherings to 15 people.

Sources close to the matter stated that 8 of the 18 people hosted by Bishop Wanjiru had tested positive for the virus.

The incident came at a time when the country was grappling with a surge in COVID-19 cases, with a total of over 1,000 cases, 50 deaths, and more than 350 recoveries.

"I now reliably learn that it's Bishop Margaret Wanjiru according to the The Star Kenya," a source stated.
