On May 21, 2020, a Twitter user, claiming to be a fan of Diana Marua, posted a tweet that seemed to criticize women who stay with cheating partners. The tweet, which was later revealed to be a parody account, sparked a heated debate on the platform.

The tweet in question read: 'Women who entertain their men cheating are a disgrace to the female gender. If Jalang'o's wife knew what Edgar Obare exposed and she kept quiet then she is with him because of money like those girls selling their body to the boys club. Learn to respect yourself.'

However, it soon emerged that the tweet was not from Diana Marua herself, but from a parody account. The socialite took to her official Twitter account to address the issue, stating: 'Hello Twitter, this being My First ever Tweet. I’d like to Notify The public that I don’t have any other Twitter account and the Comments Made from the Parody Accounts do not Represent Me or My Family. This my Only & Official Twitter account @Diana_Bahati.'

Despite the controversy, Diana Marua's husband, Bahati, has been supportive of her throughout the ordeal, indicating that their relationship remains strong.
