As the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the world of sports, Spain coach Luis Enrique has expressed his disappointment at the prospect of games without supporters.

Speaking on the "Colgados del aro" ("Hanging from the hoop") basketball show on Wednesday, Luis Enrique compared playing behind closed doors to "dancing with your own sister", stating that it's "sadder than that".

He watched the German football league's return last weekend and described it as a "sad sight", noting that the absence of fans takes away the intimacy of the game.

However, he also acknowledged that the pandemic has brought about a new reality and that football can help people cope with confinement.

"Watching football again or any other sport, as a fan it's interesting," he added.

Luis Enrique returned to his job as Spain coach in November after resigning last June to take care of his daughter, Xana, who died in August of cancer.

He expressed his desire to get back to playing as soon as possible, stating that he has "zero fear" of the virus.

With Euro 2020 postponed by a year, Luis Enrique admitted that the uncertainty is affecting everyone involved, but emphasized the need to be patient and wait for football to return.
