On May 21, 2020, Bournemouth midfielder Jordon Ibe sparked controversy after posting a picture on Instagram of himself getting a haircut, despite lockdown rules in place.

The 24-year-old former Liverpool player claimed he didn't realize he was breaching the guidelines, stating, "I didn't think it through and I apologize. I made sure to wear protective equipment but I didn't realize it was in breach of the guidelines."

He added, "There wasn't any intent to disobey the guidelines and as soon as it was brought to my attention, I took the post down immediately."

Bournemouth has launched an internal investigation into the matter, with the midfielder facing the prospect of disciplinary action.

The club confirmed the investigation in a statement, saying, "We are aware of a social media post made by one of our players. We have launched an internal investigation, the outcome of which will remain confidential."

Ibe's actions come on the heels of another Premier League star, Tottenham's Serge Aurier, who was criticized for getting a haircut during the lockdown.
