On the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, a couple celebrated a rather unusual milestone - the first fart. Ryan McErlean, 24, and his girlfriend Kaylie Warren, 21, have been together for three years.

According to Ryan, Kaylie was more polite about passing gas, so he jokingly told her it was okay to do so a month or two into their relationship. However, it took her three years of 'extreme reluctance and denial' to finally let one slip.

Ryan decided to commemorate the occasion by buying Kaylie a fancy cake with a sweet message written in the icing on top. The decadent cheesecake read: 'Took you three years, congratulations for finally farting.'

The cake cost Ryan $40 AUD, and Kaylie was initially hesitant to have it posted on Facebook, but eventually, she saw the humor in it. She even joked that a lot of girls had been tagging their boyfriends, asking if they could have a fart cake too.

Ryan's gesture went viral, with people bragging about how quickly they farted in front of others. He said, 'It's something everyone can relate to as a couple - everyone has a weird milestone they cherish or fulfill, it's a little bond they have that makes it special.'

Ryan shared a photo of the cake on Facebook, writing that when he heard Kaylie's fart at 2am, he was filled with 'pure surprise and joy' as it was so loud it woke her up. She initially tried to blame their pet dog for the noise.
