On May 16, 2020, a horrific incident occurred in Tharaka Nithi county, where a 30-year-old man, James Kifo Muriuki, brutally attacked his wife, Charity Wairimu.
According to reports, Muriuki had returned home after sneaking back from Nairobi and immediately began questioning his wife about the men she had slept with while he was away.
When Charity hesitated to reveal the names, Muriuki allegedly beat her and then sprayed pepper, salt, and superglue on her genitalia, using a knife to push the contents further into her private parts.
He then sealed her mouth and ears and left her for dead by the River Kathita.
Fortunately, detectives from the Special Crime Unit, DCI Tseikuru, and DCI Tharaka South apprehended Muriuki on Thursday morning, bringing an end to his reign of terror.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will be arraigned once necessary police procedure is complete.
