On May 21, 2020, residents of Borabu constituency in Nyamira county expressed outrage over the alleged misuse of NG-CDF funds by their MP, Ben Momanyi.
The residents, who fear victimization, claim that funds from the NG-CDF kitty were siphoned through learning institutions, ghost students, and exaggerated project costs.
Investigations revealed that cheques given to institutions were higher than the actual project costs, forcing institution heads to surrender the excess funds to nominated NGCDF committee members.
Those who refused to comply were allegedly blacklisted, denying them further funding.
The residents have petitioned the Director of Criminal Investigations, George Kinoti, and the EACC's Twalib Mbarak to investigate the financial scandals and bring those responsible to book.
They also demand thorough investigations into all NG-CDF committee members who allegedly live beyond their means.
