Published on May 21, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee party has been facing internal conflicts, with Deputy President William Ruto's Tanga Tanga brigade at the center of the controversy.
According to Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi, the main reason behind the departure of several Tanga Tanga legislators is the intimidations and threats from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking on his Facebook account, Sudi expressed his concern over the kind of blackmail that Kenyan leaders are facing, stating that it shows that the country's democracy is on trial.
He attributed the situation to the threats and coercion from the Head of State, adding that the legislators who have decamped from the Tanga Tanga brigade are now supporting a motion in Parliament aimed at ousting Senator Kithure Kindiki from his position as the deputy speaker of the Senate.
The motion is reportedly backed by Senators Millicent Omanga, Margaret Kamar, Michael Mbito, Njiru Ndwiga, Victor Prengei, Christine Zawadi, and Mary Senate, who have all left the Tanga Tanga brigade to join President Uhuru Kenyatta's camp.
