On January 1, 2020, Joseph Bwambok reunited with his wife, Jane Jerobon, after a decade-long separation. However, their brief reunion turned tragic when Bwambok stabbed Jerobon with a kitchen knife in Shirika village, Uasin Gishu County.
According to neighbours, the couple had sought the help of Nyumba Kumi members to resolve their domestic wrangles, but their issues persisted due to Jerobon's heavy drinking.
Arusei Christine, a neighbour, revealed that Bwambok had confided in her that he would kill Jerobon and take his own life if she continued taking illicit brew. 'Bwambok was a teetotaler while his wife was a heavy drinker. This led to their constant fights. He had warned the wife against taking illicit brew,' Arusei said.
Alex Kirwa, Bwambok's brother, disclosed that he had intervened several times to resolve the couple's differences, but their issues persisted due to Jerobon's drinking problem. 'My brother had separated from his wife for over 10 years and they recently reunited. The wife, however, was deep into alcoholism,' Kirwa said.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, with Uasin Gishu County Commander Johnstone Ipaara confirming that police visited the scene and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the couple's deaths.
