Former Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama has revealed that his former Southampton teammate Sadio Mane thought some of their teammates were deliberately not passing the ball to him during their time at the club.

Wanyama, who played alongside Mane for two seasons at St Mary's, says that Mane approached him and expressed his concerns about not receiving passes from certain teammates.

'At one point, Mane approached me and told me 'Hi man, these guys do not want to pass the ball to me, can the two of us play closely? They don't want me to score,' Wanyama told Madgoat TV, via Goal.com.

Wanyama agreed to play closely with Mane and would pass the ball to him whenever he got the chance, despite feeling that it was not his responsibility to help Mane score.

'I wanted to treat him right since he is a good and nice guy,' Wanyama said.

Mane's struggles at Southampton were well-documented during his two seasons at the club, where he scored 25 goals in 75 appearances before making a £34million move to Liverpool in 2016.
