On May 20, 2020, a Nairobi court acquitted former Cabinet Minister Amos Kimunya and three others in a Sh60 million land transfer case.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had instituted the case against Kimunya and three others, including a director of Land Adjudication and Settlement, for allegedly illegally disposing off public property worth Sh60 million.

However, trial magistrate Alex Kombo found that the prosecution had failed to establish a case against the accused, citing several gaps in the investigations that led to the case collapsing due to lack of evidence.

The case centered around the transfer of a 25-acre piece of land in Nyandarua to a firm identified as Midlands Ltd. on February 6, 2006.

Kimunya had been accused of failing to protect public property and failing to disclose his directorship at Midlands Ltd.
