As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact businesses, Tuskys Supermarket has taken steps to support its suppliers. In a letter dated May 14th, 2020, Tuskys CEO Dan Githua apologized to suppliers whose payments had been restructured.
According to Githua, payments rescheduled in April would be progressively released in May and continue through June. However, these plans were impacted by the pandemic, which severely affected footfall in the retail sector.
"The payments were prioritized with proposals to be communicated by email. This email communication were to be released directly from 15th May, 2020. All these plans were impacted by COVID-19 that took a toll on the footfall of the retail sector and across the board," said Githua.
Despite the challenges, Tuskys has assured its suppliers that it will continue to support them as part of its vital supply chain. The retail chain has also advised suppliers with accounts reconciliation issues to contact them for fast-tracking the accounting processes.
Published on May 20th, 2020, this news comes as Tuskys has also laid off staff due to redundancy, as reported by Kenyan Wall Street.
