On May 20, 2020, Kenya marked a significant milestone in its fight against Covid-19, with the country's total cases reaching 1,029.
Mombasa led the way, accounting for 30 of the 66 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours, with the majority of these cases reported in the Mvita, Changamwe, and Likoni areas.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe expressed concern over the rising numbers, particularly in the Likoni and Changamwe areas of Mombasa.
"Mombasa continues to be an area of concern especially in Likoni and Changamwe area," Mr Kagwe said.
With the country now having surpassed the 1,000-case mark, the government has issued strict measures to contain the spread of the disease.
