On Wednesday, Broadways Group of Company made a significant contribution to Makueni County's COVID-19 relief efforts by donating 500 bales of wheat flour to the Makueni County Covid-19 Emergency Response Committee.
According to Director Bimal Shah, the donation worth Sh625,000 is part of the company's efforts to support vulnerable families impacted by the pandemic. This is not the first time the company has shown its support; they have donated Sh25 million to various counties and the National Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund.
Speaking during the donation ceremony, Director Shah emphasized the importance of giving back to society, especially during challenging times. He also commended the Makueni government for initiating development projects, such as the Mango processing plant, and pledged the company's support to spur development in the county.
“We are ready to support and share ideas with the county government to spur development and create jobs,” said Mr. Shah.
As part of their commitment to the community, the company will soon launch a campaign to create awareness about diabetes, a disease that has become a major concern in Kenya. The campaign, dubbed 'Sugar Smart,' aims to educate residents on the dangers of diabetes and promote healthy living.
Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana thanked the company for the donation, which he described as a boon to the beneficiaries. He also commended the company for prioritizing nutritional value in their products and encouraged other manufacturers to follow suit.
“Even the packaging of Broadways Group is environmentally friendly,” said Kibwana.
The governor welcomed the company's diabetes awareness campaign and expressed the county's willingness to partner with them to conduct massive testing in all 235 health facilities across the county.
