Published on May 20, 2020, a report by the Kenyan Digest revealed that Senator Millicent Omanga, a Tangatanga member, had signed a motion to remove Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki.

The move comes as Omanga faces the possibility of expulsion from the Jubilee party, along with four other senators, for boycotting a Senate PG group meeting.

Omanga's decision to sign the ouster motion could be seen as an attempt to impress the party and save her lavish lifestyle, which she fears she may lose if she opposes President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Senator Kindiki's impeachment notice was filed by Jubilee Party majority whip Senator Irungu Kang'ata, citing Kindiki's refusal to attend a Jubilee Party Senate Parliamentary Group meeting sanctioned by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kindiki is also accused of failing to write a letter explaining his absence, leading to the impeachment motion.

The move is seen as part of President Uhuru Kenyatta's ongoing onslaught against allies of his deputy William Ruto.

Other senators facing expulsion include Falhada Dekow Iman, Naomi Jillo Waqo, Victor Prengei, and Mary Seneta Yiane.

Senator Omanga's change of heart has left many wondering about her true intentions and whether she will ultimately side with President Uhuru Kenyatta or her Tangatanga allies.
