As the world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin remains confident that football with fans will return soon.

Published on May 20, 2020, Ceferin expressed his optimism in an interview with the Guardian, stating that he would bet a million dollars that Euro 2020 would be played in 2021.

"Yes, I would. I don't know why it wouldn't be," Ceferin said, adding that he didn't think the virus would last forever and that he believed it would change sooner than many think.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Ceferin is optimistic that football will follow the recommendations of the authorities and return to normal soon.

"I'm absolutely sure, personally, that good old football with fans will come back very soon," he said.

When asked if the game would be profoundly changed by the coronavirus, Ceferin replied, "Football didn't change after the Second World War, or First World War, and it will not change because of a virus either."
