UAP Old Mutual and Uber Team Up to Protect Drivers in Nairobi and Mombasa

On May 20, 2020, UAP Old Mutual General Business joined forces with Uber to provide essential protection to drivers in Nairobi and Mombasa. The initiative saw the distribution of 3-ply masks worth Sh2.75 million, courtesy of the partnership.

David Kuria, Managing Director of Insurance Business at UAP Old Mutual, emphasized the importance of collective efforts in managing the spread of the pandemic. 'Partnerships like this one with Uber and AutoXpress are vital in the fight against COVID-19. If we all play our part, we will achieve our goal,' he said.

Uber's Country Manager for Kenya, Brian Njao, highlighted the company's commitment to ensuring the safety of drivers and riders on its platform. 'The uncertainty caused by COVID-19 is being felt worldwide. We are collaborating with UAP Old Mutual Group and AutoXpress to provide masks to our drivers and adhere to health guidelines,' he added.

AutoXpress Managing Director, Sandeep Shah, expressed his company's support for the initiative, stating, 'We are pleased to offer our branches as staging points of convenience and support for this noble initiative that protects so many members of society.'

As part of its humanitarian response to the COVID-19 crisis, UAP Old Mutual Faulu Foundation contributed Kshs 2 Million to the Association of Kenya Insurance (AKI) and Insurance Regulatory Association (IRA) joint industry response.
