Published on May 20, 2020, Formula One has expressed concerns over the UK government's coronavirus recovery strategy, which includes a 14-day quarantine rule for international arrivals.

The rule, set to be implemented in the coming weeks, would severely impact the sport's plans to host a British Grand Prix this year.

According to an F1 spokesperson, a 14-day quarantine would make it impossible to have a British Grand Prix this year, citing the significant impact on tens of thousands of jobs linked to F1 and supply chains.

The spokesperson emphasized that F1-only occupied aircraft and staff testing would make quarantine unnecessary, and that exemptions must be provided for elite sport to return to TV.

Seven of the 10 teams on the Formula One grid have bases in England, and the sport's organizers are hoping to start the season with the Austrian Grand Prix on July 5 behind closed doors.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has stated that the return of sport on TV would provide a much-needed boost to national morale, but the F1 organizers are now facing a major hurdle in the form of the quarantine rule.
