On February 19, Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina made pronouncements on a local TV station that were intended to incite feelings of discrimination against non-Maasai communities living in Narok county based on their ethnicity.

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) condemned Ole Kina's utterances and asked Kenyans to maintain peace and continue engaging in the Building Bridges Initiative process.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the prosecution counsel, James Gachoka, told the court that they were unable to arrest the senator.

As a result, Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot issued summons to Senator Ledama ole Kina to appear before the court on June 2 to answer to the charges.
