Former Chicago Bulls player Horace Grant has come out swinging against Michael Jordan, accusing the NBA legend of distorting the truth in the hit documentary series 'The Last Dance'. The controversy erupted on Tuesday, May 20, 2020, when Grant spoke to ESPN radio.
Grant, a three-time NBA champion who played alongside Jordan, claimed that the documentary had been edited to present Jordan in a favorable light. He estimated that about 90% of the content was 'BS' in terms of its accuracy.
'It wasn't real - because a lot of things (Jordan) said to some of his teammates, that his teammates went back at him,' Grant said. 'But all of that was kind of edited out of the documentary, if you want to call it a documentary.'
Grant saved his harshest criticism for Jordan's claim that he was a key source for the book 'The Jordan Rules', which exposed the NBA great's career. 'Lie, lie, lie,' Grant said. 'If MJ had a grudge with me, let's settle this like men. Let's talk about it. Or we can settle it another way.'
Grant also accused Jordan of being physically and verbally abusive to younger teammates during his playing days. He recalled a particularly disturbing incident involving Jordan and former teammate Steve Kerr, who got into a physical altercation during practice.
'(Jordan) felt that he could dominate me, but that was sadly mistaken,' Grant said. 'Because whenever he went at me, I went at him right back. But in terms of Will Perdue, Steve Kerr and the young man, Scott Burrell, that was heartbreaking.'
