On Monday, a female nurse and her boyfriend were arrested in Nakuru for violating the COVID-19 curfew. The couple had traveled from Nairobi, despite the government's restrictions on movement.

According to reports, the nurse identified herself to police manning roadblocks on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway and claimed she was going to offer essential services in Nakuru. However, her true intentions were soon discovered, and she was taken into quarantine along with her boyfriend.

The government has restricted movement of persons and passenger vehicles into and out of Nairobi, except for cargo trucks, to curb the spread of the coronavirus. Health workers, including nurses, are among those exempted from the order and allowed to travel out of the capital and operate past curfew hours.

As of March, the government had outlined the areas where essential services are being provided, and health workers are categorized as such. However, it appears that this nurse and her boyfriend did not follow the guidelines and were subsequently arrested and quarantined for 14 days.
