Published on May 19, 2020, the Premier League has confirmed six positive cases of coronavirus among players and staff at three clubs.

As part of the league's safety protocols, 748 players and club staff were tested for COVID-19 on Sunday, May 17, and Monday, May 18.

Of those tested, six individuals from three clubs have tested positive for the virus.

According to the Premier League, players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate for a period of seven days.

The positive cases represent just 0.8 percent of those tested, a relatively low number compared to other major leagues.

Germany's top two divisions, for example, registered 10 positive cases out of 1,724 tests two weeks ago, while five players from Spain's top two divisions tested positive last week.

Despite concerns from some players over their welfare, Premier League clubs are aiming for a return to action by the middle of next month.
