After months of anticipation, HMD Global has finally started rolling out the Android 10 update to the Nokia 5.1 Plus. This news comes as a relief to users who have been vocal about their frustration with the delay in receiving the update.
Launched in late 2018, the Nokia 5.1 Plus has seen significant price cuts over the years, indicating its declining popularity. Despite this, users who have chosen to stick with the device will still receive another year of security updates, as per HMD Global's revised update schedule.
The Android 10 update for the Nokia 5.1 Plus weighs in at over 1.3GB and is currently available in the first wave markets. Users in other regions, including Kenya, can expect to receive the update soon.
It's worth noting that the Nokia 5.1 Plus has exhausted its guaranteed two major upgrades quota, having already received the Android 9 Pie update in January 2019. As a result, users can only hope that HMD Global will extend some mercy and provide support for Android 11 in the future.
According to HMD Global's revised update schedule, only the Nokia 1, Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1, and Nokia 5.1 now remain on the Android 10 'to-do' list.
