As of May 19, 2020, over 2,500 households and businesses in Ngiitakito, Lodwar, Turkana County, have been in the dark for a month.

The area, considered the economic hub of the Turkana region, is home to local and governmental facilities, including the Turkana's biggest health facility and the main referral hospital, Lodwar County Hospital.

Residents have held peaceful demonstrations at the Kenya Power Lodwar station, calling for the speedy replacement of the faulty transformer.

Kenya Power station head, Daimol Akal, has dismissed the accusations, stating that the situation is being rectified.

However, the angry residents have vowed to continue their demonstrations until power is reinstalled.
