Published on May 19, 2020, a Twitter poll conducted by political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has left him disappointed after many Kikuyus voted in favor of Deputy President William Ruto.

Ngunyi, a long-time critic of DP Ruto, had warned his GEMA community against supporting the Deputy President, describing him as an 'auctioneer' who wants to dismantle their unity.

However, the poll results showed that many Kikuyus chose to vote for Ruto over President Uhuru Kenyatta, a development that has left Ngunyi red-faced.

DP Ruto has been gaining popularity among the Kikuyus, with several leaders from the community declaring their full support for him.

This is a significant shift from the past, where GEMA leaders used to support their own when it came to politics.

DP Ruto's popularity has been a subject of controversy, with many objecting to his plans, including his 2022 presidential candidature.

His relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta has also been strained, particularly after Uhuru made changes at the Jubilee Party that didn't favor Ruto's Tanga Tanga wing.
