On May 19, 2020, Kenya's COVID-19 cases reached 963, following the detection of 51 new cases, according to the health ministry.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe attributed the increase to the analysis of 1,933 samples.

Of the new cases, 22 patients had been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 358.

CS Kagwe noted that the number of active cases stood at 555, with no deaths reported on the day, keeping the death toll at 50.

He emphasized the importance of taking sick people to hospital to minimize the risk of infections, citing the high number of deaths recorded in homes, particularly in Mombasa.

As of the latest update, Nairobi had the highest number of cases (470), followed by Mombasa (331), with cases spread across 23 counties.
