On May 19, 2020, Kenya's Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced a sharp increase in confirmed coronavirus cases, reaching 963 after 51 new infections in the last 24 hours.
According to Kagwe, the new cases were confirmed out of 1,933 samples tested by health officials, with 32 males and 19 females affected.
While the number of recoveries from the coronavirus has also increased, with 22 people discharged from hospital, bringing the total number to 358, the number of fatalities remains at 50.
CS Kagwe expressed concern over more cross-border infections and the alarming rate of Covid-19 patients dying at home.
