May 19, 2020 - Nyeri, Kenya - The search for a suitable garbage disposal site in Nyeri has reached a stalemate, leaving residents to suffer the consequences of littered streets.

Residents in Konyu, Nyeri Central, Karima, and Kiganjo wards have rejected the establishment of disposal areas in Karindundu, Gikeu, Nyaribo, Old Sewerage, and Blue Valley.

Heaps of garbage have piled up in Kamakwa, Ruringu, and Kangemi estates, posing a significant health risk to the community.

Environment County Executive Committee Member Beth Karimi has accused some ward representatives of politicizing the issue, which has hindered the county's efforts to find a solution.
