On Sunday, the United States Africa Command (Africom) confirmed the killing of two terrorists in an air strike targeting Al Shabaab militants in Somalia.

The operation was conducted in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, with Africom stating that there were no reported civilian casualties in the strike.

"The US support to our Somali partners is and will remain strong," said Africom's director of operations Major General William Gayler.

Col Christopher Karns, Africom's director of public affairs, added that the US Africa Command continues to work with its Somali partners to transfer the responsibility for long-term security in Somalia to the Federal government of Somalia and its member states.

Increased air strike attacks targeting Shabaab militants in Somalia led to the death of more than 30 terrorists in the month of April alone, with notable strikes occurring on April 10, April 9, April 6, April 5, April 3, and April 2.
