On May 16, 2020, the United States hailed the arrest of Félicien Kabuga, a Rwandan businessman and key suspect in the 1994 Rwandan genocide.
The US Department of State praised the efforts of the Rwandan authorities and international partners in bringing Kabuga to justice.
According to reports, Kabuga was arrested in Paris, France, and is expected to face trial in Germany for his alleged role in the genocide.
The Rwandan genocide resulted in the deaths of over 800,000 people, mostly from the Tutsi ethnic group.
