On May 18, 2020, East African Breweries Limited (EABL) made a significant contribution to the fight against COVID-19 in Kenya by donating KSh 50 million to the Kenya COVID-19 Emergency Fund.

This donation brings EABL's total commitment to alleviating the crisis in Kenya to KSh 120 million. The company had already spent KSh 70 million on producing and distributing 1 million hand sanitizer packs to frontline health workers and vulnerable communities.

As part of its efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19, EABL also undertook a public awareness campaign to educate the public on the importance of adhering to health guidelines.

According to Andrew Cowan, EABL Group MD, the donated funds will directly support the Kenya COVID-19 Emergency Fund's efforts to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus on the needy.

"At this critical time, with our country in the middle of the biggest crisis since independence, EABL continues to partner the Government of Kenya to combat the spread of Covid-19 disease, to save lives. We are pleased to complement Kenya COVID-19 Emergency Fund's role in helping frontline health workers and others in critical need during this time," said Mr. Cowan.
