As of May 18, 2020, Kenya has seen a significant spread of COVID-19, with 25 counties affected by the disease.
Meru, Garissa, and Taita Taveta counties have recently reported their first cases, bringing the total number of devolved units affected to 25.
Within 24 hours, 1,139 samples were analyzed, resulting in 25 positive cases, with five of these cases reported in the three newly affected counties.
Two cases in Garissa were traced to the Dadaab refugee camp, while two cases in Taita Taveta were identified among truck drivers tested at Voi.
Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman stated, "In Garissa, the two cases are both from Badaab refugee camp, one at Iffo and one at Dagahaley, In Meru one case is from Buuri."
Other counties with reported cases include Kiambu, Kwale, Kajiado, Wajir, Mandera, Migori, Kilifi, Kitui, and several others.
Notably, Nairobi county has the highest number of cases at 422, followed by Mombasa with 309 cases.
Twenty-two more patients have recovered from the virus, bringing the total recoveries to 336, with no COVID-19 related deaths reported on Monday.
