Kenya's Covid-19 Cases Rise to 912 as 25 More Test Positive

Kenya's Covid-19 cases have risen to 912 after 25 more patients tested positive, with 23 Kenyans and 2 Somali nationals among the new cases.

According to the Health Ministry, the new cases were confirmed following the testing of 1,139 samples over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of samples tested to 44,851.

Health Ministry CAS Dr. Rashid Aman announced the new cases during a press briefing at Afya House on Monday, stating that the government has capacity at border points to test quickly and turn around results for COVID-19 in good time.

Dr. Aman also announced that 53 truck drivers who had tested positive for COVID-19 at the various points of entry on the Kenya-Tanzania border were referred back to Tanzania, including 51 Tanzanians and 2 Burundi nationals.

The new cases are distributed across various counties, including Kajiado, Mombasa, Nairobi, Kiambu, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Garissa, and Meru, with Meru, Taita Taveta, and Garissa being the new counties to be infected with the disease.

Dr. Aman noted that 22 more patients had been discharged, bringing the total number of patients discharged and recovered to 336, while total fatalities remain at 50.
