La Liga's season has been suspended since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the league is now taking steps towards its planned resumption in June. On May 18, 2020, Spanish clubs began training in groups of 10 players, in line with health protocols.
Barcelona and Real Madrid, two of the top teams in La Liga, were among the clubs that resumed training on Monday. The teams' players were seen taking part in training sessions at their respective clubs' facilities.
According to Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, the decision to allow training sessions with 10 players was made by the Spanish government. Tebas stated that it was essential for all teams to train in the same way.
La Liga has been working towards completing the remaining 11 rounds of matches in the season. The league's president has circled June 12 as the ideal date for matches to return, but admitted that the exact timing will depend on the health authorities in Spain and the trajectory of the virus.
