On May 18, 2020, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi made it clear that his party would not be joining the Jubilee Coalition, as had been reported in various media outlets.

President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party had been in talks with several parties, including KANU, CCM, and ODM, in a bid to form a coalition government after the looming referendum.

However, Mudavadi stated that ANC was already a member of the NASA Coalition and that it would be impossible for the party to join Jubilee due to legal and political reasons.

"I want to make it clear that @anc_party is still a member of the NASA Coalition which has never been invalidated. In addition, a political party cannot legally be in multiple coalitions at the same time. Therefore, ANC will not enter into a coalition with the Jubilee Party," Mudavadi tweeted.

Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka had previously expressed willingness to work with Jubilee, while CCM Party leader Isaac Ruto had also held talks with President Kenyatta.
