On May 6, 2020, a police officer, Hesbon Kebiro Ochwangí, attached to Lowangiro Camel Farm, tragically drowned in River Pesi, Laikipia West, Laikipia County.

After a 10-day search, the officer's body was discovered on May 16, 2020, interlocked on tree logs lying across the river, approximately 17km from the suspected point of drowning.

According to a police report, the body was partially decomposed and only dressed in a red t-shirt, which was the last clothing item the deceased was seen wearing.

A search team from the Administration Police Service (ASTU) under the command of Mr. Collins Amanya found the body.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have visited the scene to determine whether the officer was thrown into the river or accidentally fell in.

The body has been taken to Umash Funeral Home for autopsy, and an inquest into the death has been opened.
