On May 17, 2020, Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai was laid to rest on her father's farm in Naivasha. Her death has led to the incarceration of Omar Lali, a Lamu resident.
A local journalist, Mohamed Bin Shaib, has taken it upon himself to ensure Omar's voice is heard. He has been actively tweeting about Omar's innocence, calling for his release.
According to Mohamed, Omar's only 'crime' is that he showed Tecra love. He has been sharing photos of Omar with his children on his Twitter timeline, painting him as a loving father.
One of the tweets reads, 'Free Omar Lali the son of Lamu, Their relationship was nothing but True love. Mungu Alichukua haki yake mbona munatesa Omar!!?'
After visiting Omar in jail, Mohamed recounted their conversation, saying, 'He told me not to worry about him because Almighty is NOT asleep, I gave her love and Almighty did the Rest. Keep watching them and TRUTH will be known.'
He also noted that Omar has nothing to do with Tecra's death, saying, 'He only gave her Love. And they know very well what course the death!! The story is clear, stop going long way and let’s meet at the court.'
