Published on May 18, 2020, Saumu Mbuvi's cry against police brutality has echoed through social media after her father-in-law was shot in broad daylight.

Her outburst comes as Kenyans continue to express outrage over police brutality, with many sharing their own stories of harassment and violence at the hands of law enforcement.

According to reports, the 7pm-5am curfew period announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta has led to numerous cases of police brutality, including the alleged shooting of a young boy who was in his balcony at the time.

‘Police brutality must and should stop. We are tired! Stop taking advantage of your power to intimidate innocent citizens…’ Saumu Mbuvi posted on social media, adding that her father-in-law was shot in broad daylight.

‘They shot my father in law today yet it was still daytime. Police brutality must stop! Every day we get cases of them shooting innocent citizens and nothing is being done. It’s time this ends,’ she wrote.
