On Friday, Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi held a virtual staff meeting with over 500 workers, marking the first time the county has held such a meeting since the COVID-19 outbreak two months ago.
Ordinarily, the county holds quarterly general staff meetings at the sub-county headquarters in Nanyuki, Nyahururu, or Doldol, where all senior staff are required to be physically present. However, with the current health crisis, the governor has opted for virtual meetings to ensure the safety of his employees.
During the virtual meeting, the county secretary reminded the workers that their performance was being monitored even as they worked from home. He also instructed them to keep their phones on, allowing for seamless communication and collaboration.
The governor has instructed all departments to plan their work through virtual conferences, a move aimed at maintaining productivity and efficiency despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.
